| GIS is geographical databases. They contain for each feature (=object) a description, that depends on the application. The features are also described as points, lines or areas in a coordinate system. The GIS database has a view being a map, either static on plain paper or as a picture on the screen, or as an active document. MapPublisher is used to create maps from a GIS database. The maps consist of point, line or area formed symbols. FontLib is an editor for typefaces or symbols, that are used as map symbols. ArcView is a GIS database used for presentation of active maps. PathFinder Office is a GIS databas used to manage input from GPS equipment, chose coordinate system and make transforms and to edit measured input. |
